Praying for God's will to be accomplished in this crisis

Good morning for the second time today....

I want to encourage all our Readers about the upending of the status quo in many lives around the world. I find it helpful to keep heavens perspective before us.

The first response of believers in times of national crisis is to look to our Great God. There is no hope or help in anything else that is in the world or of man, no matter how well intentioned their motivation may be.

Deuteronomy 33:26 There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help and in his excellency on the sky. 27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. 28 Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew. 29 Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

The Puritans in early America understood this. Many years ago I had some books that drew from the Puritan writings. When a drought happened, or a devastating storm or some outbreak of disease occurred many Puritan pastors fasted and prayed, believing that Holy God was bringing judgment upon them and that sin issues needed to be addressed so that restoration could be granted.

The wrath of God against sin cannot be underestimated. Though He calls mankind with the gospel of Christ in grace today, He is at the same time as holy and pure as ever.

The suddenness of financial collapse, the swift loss of jobs and rapidly spreading disease is surely well out of the ordinary and born again children of God have an opportunity to demonstrate faith in Jehovah to a lost and dying world.

The US Department of Labor unemployment stats came out this morning and 3.3 million people filed for unemployment last week, by far the highest number on record.

Globally, more than $6 trillion in equity was wiped out of the stock markets in a matter of a few days. It reminds me of Solomon’s words.

It boils down to each Christian  living dependently upon the Lord rather than depending on our own abilities and assets. Be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us, for sure.  But we cannot let these things assume more importance than what they should receive.

Proverbs 23:4-5  Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. 5  Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

May the Lord use all of the global crisis points to stir the hearts of each Christian to live for His kingdom of God rather than living for the things of this world.

May the Lord ignite revival in our hearts and fan the flames of gospel preaching so that the world is once again turned upside down for Christ.

May we choose to run under His sheltering wings and allow Jehovah to protect, nourish and sustain each sheep in His pasture.

Bob
