THe Divine Names. Pt. 2 Jehovah Nissi

Good morning to each Faithful Reader and I hope it is a blessed day for all of you. The seasonal transition has begun and we are starting to see some flashes of color among the green foliage.  There are certain wildflowers that grow and bloom along the sides of many roads in the country this time of year that are also appearing.  In  northeast Ohio, fall is a vivid illustration of what the Lord Jesus Christ taught about plowing, sowing, planting and harvesting.  We see the fields change from freshly plowed, to new sprouts of corn, wheat, barley, alfalfa, or soy beans.  We see them grow and mature and change color as they become ready for picking or harvesting.  The words of Christ in the text below are understood within the context of Matthew 13 and the parable of the Seed and the Sower. The seed that is sown is the word of God.  Matthew 9:37-38   Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the har

The Divine Names. Pt. 1 Jehovah Nissi

Good Morning to all of our Dear Readers. We have been blessed with another splendid morning here in northeast Ohio.  Deb and I love this weather, brilliant sunshine, vivid blue skies with some starkly white clouds drifting lazily by and mild temps with low humidity.  It just feels so refreshing physically and spiritually.  I was thinking about the wide geographical distribution of this Bible study blog and realized that there are significant differences in all of our time zones.  For example, where I live, we follow Eastern Standard Time but Readers on another continent are many hours ahead or behind EST.  One of the great things about the internet is that it shrinks distance and time while connecting people who would otherwise never meet. Today, I would like to study another beautiful Divine Name from the Old Testament.  This name involves the patriarch Moses and his successor, Joshua.  It is the name Jehovah Nissi.  We need to dig into the context of what was happening prior

The Divine Names. Pt. 4 Jehovah Rapha

Good morning to you, Dear Readers! I continue to be happily amazed at the places all around the world where this Bible study blog is being viewed. In addition to the USA, there are readers of this blog in at least 12 other nations around the world!  I am grateful for this and pray that the Bible studies are a true blessing to all who read it.  I believe that we all can rejoice because the truth of God's word is going out to places that most of us will probably never be able to visit. I am praying for the Spirit of God to take the Word of God and do a mighty work in every person's heart who reads this blog.  I am happy to report that my physical therapy is really helping me recover from knee surgery. I am regaining my range of motion and flexibility and I am cleared to drive again. The pains are subsiding and all of this makes me grateful for your prayers and for the work of our loving Great Physician, Jesus Christ.  Let's look once more at the text where the name J

The Divine Names. Pt 3 Jehovah Rapha

Good Morning We are continuing our brief study of the name Jehovah Rapha. Today we will see the immediate context where the name is found and see how God uses testing and trials to prove our faith.  Exodus 15:22-27  So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.  And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.   And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?  And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,   And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of
