Good morning... My home email is banddswish@sssnet.com for those of you who wish to contact me. Your comments are welcomed as are your prayers for our Great god to use this blog to touch many hearts for His kingdom. So far He has allowed the blog to reach into at least 20 nations on many different continents, to the praise of Christ's glory! God granted us a chilly but beautiful sunny morning on this last Saturday of February and our transition to spring will begin soon.  Today I want to bring before us the book of Ruth with the intent upon primarily focusing on the Godly character of Ruth. I think you will find this to be a study that stirs your heart into yearning for a deeper walk with the Lord. Photo of where the land of Moab used to be. A time of uncertainty and fear. Judges 2:11-13  And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:  12  And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, an

Good morning... Psalm 51: 2,3  Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is ever before me. We probably know how the conquest of Jericho unfolded in Joshua 3-6. Israel crossed the Jordan, the people were circumcised and prepared for an unusual battle strategy. Their army would march around the city walls once per day for 6 days led by the priests. They were to make no noise. The priests would have trumpets and the ark would be carried in the front of the procession. On the 7th day the army of Israel would march around the city 7 times and on the last time the priests would sound the trumpets and the people would shout with a great shout. Jehovah then caused the walls to collapse.  Rahab knew that her city and her people were going to be conquered. She also had faith that the 2 spies would keep their word and save her family from destruction. God caused the walls to fall except for where Rahab's home w

Good morning... Psalm 51:1  Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness; according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. The 2 spies stay at Rahab's home. Joshua 2:1  And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.  2  And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.  3  And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.  We saw that Joshua sent 2 spies to check out the land of Canaan and the city of Jericho because Jehovah is about to lead His people into the promised land. We noted that Rahab's occupation was being a harlot or prostitute. We also noted some of the

Good morning, We are going to be studying about Rahab the harlot.  You are going to learn some things about her that you may not have known before. Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Photo of  excavated walls of Jericho.  I would like to study an infamous woman from the Old Testament from Jericho named Rahab the harlot. She has an amazing story that shows God's grace can indeed reach the most defiled man or woman. The best way to study Rahab is to look at the culture in which she lived, through the lens of scripture.  Joshua sent 2 spies to Jericho. Joshua 2:1-2  And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.  2  And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country

Good morning... We are battling the flu in hour home. I have stayed relatively healthy but my wife and Mother in law have been hit hard. Please pray for Deb & Barb's recovery with me. It is sobering to think about the flu since we are all in the "senior" age group where flu can cause severe health issues. Thank you all for praying. Our Father holds us accountable for how we choose to live. 1 Peter 4:17-19  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?  18  And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?  19  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.  I want to turn to Peter again for some more thoughts about suffering. In this text Peter reminds us that judgment will begin at the house of God. The born a

Good morning We are blessed with sunshine, blue skies and mild temperatures for this time of year. The song birds are making their way back to Ohio from the southern states and bringing their lovely and cheerful songs to brighten each morning.  This morning we continue to look at why we experience suffering, injustice and all kinds of trouble as we seek to live by the gospel in an evil world. I do recommend that you read the book of Job because the theme is about the suffering and calamities that Job had to go through and the purposes of God for his life.  2 Corinthians 1:3-4  Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. The Christian suffers on behalf of Christ.  Philippians 1:27-30  Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ
