A Study of John's Gospel. Pt. 34 Jehovah in the flesh is that Bread of Life from heaven.

Good morning to each of our Readers.... We appreciate all of you so much. God alone receives the glory for leading people to this Bible study blog. We  know that when His Word goes out, it will not return void. God's word is alive and it transforms each person when they have surrendered their lives to our Sovereign Lord. I look forward to the day when all the born again believers will be singing and praising our Savior around His throne. What a joyous time that will be! The 1st of Seven "I Am" statements of Christ. John 6:35  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.  I want to keep the key verse of this long discourse of Jesus with the religious Jews in front of us so that we do not miss its full impact.  Let us think a moment about Jesus' declaration that "I am the bread of life" because this is the first of 7 instances where Jesus applies the Old Testament nam

A Study of John's Gospel. Pt. 33 Don't Dismiss the Claims of Jesus Christ.

Good morning to each of you. As we are discovering, John has given us a very detailed record of the last 6 months of Jesus' earthly ministry. We studied about Jesus feeding the 5,000 and then we began to look at Jesus as the true bread of heaven.  The Jews did not see the feeding of the 5,000 as the awesome miracle that it was. Instead, they related to Christ in physical, material terms. In other words, they missed a mighty work of Christ that showed without a doubt He was the Son of God. Jesus is the bread of life. John 6:35-40  And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.   Jesus made it clear that believing on Him meant never hungering or thirsting again. He was clearly targeting their hearts and spiritual realities. When we are born again we will never be hungering and thirsting for all the things that the culture is constantly chasing after. All life's experiences and pleasures th

Good Morning, I am praying that you all are being blessed as we work our way through the gospel of John. The message from God to us through this apostle of Christ is very much needed today.  There are many wrong views and false teachings about Jesus Christ floating around. The only way to know what is true is by studying the Word of God to read what He has said rather than listening to man's endless speculation. As the Jews reached Capernaum where Jesus was, we read later in this chapter that they where assembled or in the synagogue of that community. It is helpful to remember that the same Old Testament scripture that spoke clearly about Jesus were read in the synagogue each Sabbath day.  They demanded a sign from Jesus. John 6:30-31  They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31) Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.   The multitude had been rebuked

Good morning to all of you on this Lord's Day.  Our loving Father in heaven has granted us a day to worship, rest and reflect upon our God. Searching for Christ but He was gone.  John 6:22-24  The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone; 23)  (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:) 24) When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.  The multitude that Jesus fed were still on the eastern shore of the Sea of Tiberias. They had seen Jesus instruct His disciples to get into the boat to go back to the other side of the Sea. The people also noted that Jesus did not go with His

Hymn History: When I Can Read My Title Clear.

Image
Good evening to all. Here is a great Hymn History for your edification. "When I Can Read My Title Clear" A clear title is a title without any lien from creditors or other parties and poses no question as to legal ownership. An owner of a car with a clear title is the sole undisputed owner, and no other party can make any legal claim to its ownership. Born again Christians who have had their debt of sin blotted out by Christ’s redemptive work have a clear title indicating that God in Heaven has redeemed his soul and is the sole owner of the child of God. Note: Mount Pisgah, for which the tune is named, is a mountain on the east of the Jordan River, from which Moses was allowed to view the Promised Land (Deut. 34:1). The Cyber Hymnal says the tune is of Scottish origin, but it first appeared in 1816, in Kentucky Harmony, credited to Joseph Lowry–though he may simply have been the arranger. Isaac Watts called the hymn “The Hope of Heaven Our Support Under Trials on Earth.” Tha

A Study of John's Gospel. Pt. 30

Good morning to all.. In John 6 we looked at some of "those things" that immediately preceded the feeding of the 5,000 near the Sea of Galilee. Then, we studied the actual account of this miracle which was recorded in all 4 gospels. Today, we see how some people reacted to this miracle. Jesus sought solitude while others wanted to make Him king. John 6:14-15  Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. 15)  When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.  John tells us about the 5,000 men reacting to the miracle of Christ feeding so many people at one time. Many of them made a connection to the writings of Moses (Deuteronomy 18:15-19). Moses said that God would send another prophet and that they would listen to Him. The omniscience of Jesus Christ is also on display again. He knew what their t

Good morning. Yes, even though there may be unrelenting trouble and turmoil all around us, the believer can have a good morning. The born again believers are victorious in Christ and there is nothing in heaven or earth that can ever separate us from the love of God that is ours in Christ. Keep praying for one another that the Lord will have His way in our hearts whether we are living where things are very troubled or whether we live where things are relatively safe. "Seek those things which are above" believer, and you will enjoy a good day in the Lord! An impossible situation. John 6:5-7  When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? 6) And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. 7) Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.  Jesus saw a large multitude making their way to wh

Good morning... Today, we move into John 6. This chapter begins with two powerful miracles of Jesus and then moves into a long discussion of Christ as the bread of life. The manna that God provided for 40 years to Israel in the Old Testament is shown to be a "type" or picture of Christ & the Word of God. Let us begin with the first paragraph where Jesus feeds 5,000! This is one of the miracles found in all 4 gospels.  What happened before this miracle? John 6:1-2  After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. 2  And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. John tells us what happened "after these thing" which refers to the interaction Jesus had with the religious leaders in John 5. (You will see that Matthew and Mark mention things that aren't mentioned in John about "these things") Jesus proceeded to go over the sea of Galilee which was also called

A Study of John's Gospel. Pt 27 Christ: The Righteous Judge & Obedient Son

Image
Good morning to all... We are coming to the end of John 5 in this post. Jesus is pointing to the various ways that show He is indeed who He claimed to be: Christ, the Son of God! Christ a Righteous Judge & Obedient Son! John 5:30  I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. Jesus reemphasized that He will do  only what the Father in heaven wants  Him to do. He is a just judge who  always makes correct judgment  because He and His Father are one. Jesus sought to fully implement the will of His Father rather than His own will. It could be said that the will of the Father was always the will of Jesus.  Testimony for Jesus Christ by many credible witnesses. John 5:31-32  If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. 32)  There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. Jesus is always talking about people
