The End Times as God Reveals Them Pt 41 A Little Horn & Jehovah's Promise
The Little Horn of Daniel
Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
As Daniel thought about the vision of the dreadful fourth beast with its ten horns, he was amazed to see another strange horn emerge. He saw a little horn come up from among the ten horns and it will pluck up or tear down three of the ten horns. Daniel looked closer and saw that this little horn represented a man with an eye and a mouth speaking great things.
The great things will not be good things because this little horn represents the person of the Anti-Christ. Whatever he says will be against Jesus Christ, against the Word of God and against the things of God.
A vision of the Godhead in Heaven
Daniel 7:9-12 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. 10) A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. 11) I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame. 12) As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
Daniel saw a vision of the throne of God in heaven, much like John saw in the book of Revelation. Daniel saw the Ancient of Days (Jesus Christ) seated and his description is remarkably similar to Revelation 1. Daniel saw the glorified Son of God with hair white as wool. robed in white, with legs and feet like a burning fire and eyes of piercing fire.
Daniel saw a fiery stream come forth from the presence of the living God. This indicates the judgment and wrath of God against sinners. The last beast of Daniel's vision will be slain, his body destroyed and his destiny the eternal lake of fire.
He heard the blasphemous words from the mouth of the little horn and saw that God sent full and complete judgment upon the beast.
Fullness of the Trinity dwells in Christ
Colossians 2:8-9 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9) For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
It is helpful to recall that the fullness of the Godhead dwells in Jesus Christ bodily. It pleased the Father that all the fulness of the trinity should dwell in His glorified Son. (See also Colossians 1:15;19 & 1 Timothy 3:16). God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and God is Light (1 John 1:5). One cannot "see" the Spirit of God or the Father.
John 14:8-9 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Jesus Christ is the fullest, most glorious revelation and manifestation of the Godhead. Note carefully the words of Jesus Christ. He said if you see me you see the Father. Jesus said that He declares or reveals to the world who the Father is (John 1:18). Jesus said "I and my father are one." (John 10:30).
The Father giving the Kingdom to Christ.
Dan 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Next, Daniel saw the Father give His Son the everlasting kingdom. (Daniel 7:9-14). Notice that the title "ancient of Days is used interchangeably between the Father and the Son. This is why Jesus said "I and my Father are one." No doubt, Daniel was greatly encouraged to see that while great troubles awaited his own people, Jehovah was still seated on His throne, still in control of all things.
Revelation 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.
We see that Daniel and John are in perfect agreement with regard to the timing of these events. They will happen during the last 3 1/2 years of the Great Tribulation period or during Daniel's 70th week. The Lord Jesus Christ will come as King and judge and He will destroy the beast and bring in the kingdom of God at that momentous "Day of the LORD" judgment.
Daniel receives the interpretation.
Daniel 7:15-18 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. 16) I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things. 17) These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth. 18) But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
Daniel 7:26-27 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end. 27) And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
The visions Daniel saw caused him to be troubled and perplexed. Therefore, he sought some divine clarification from one of the heavenly beings standing nearby. The four beasts represent four kings and their kingdoms will arise successively. The reign of Anti-Christ will end when the saints of God take the kingdom as an everlasting possession.
Later in the text Daniel refers to the people of the saints of the most High. What is he referring to? It is not the church, formed of all born again saints of God because Christ will take them to heaven prior to the commencement of Daniel's 70th week. It will be the Jewish people. 144,000 Jews are sealed to do the work of God during that 7 year period and many Jews will respond to the gospel of the kingdom in faith. Some Gentiles will also believe.
Thoughts to Ponder...
Shortly we will look at the fourth beast that Daniel saw and compare it with the composite beast that John saw in Revelation 13. Meanwhile, we see kingdoms that will arise bringing death, destruction and disease on a global scale. Chaos, confusion and agitation will be the defining traits of the End Times.
God graciously pulls back the curtain of heaven so we can seek that He is the Sovereign God seated in glory. His will is going to be perfectly accomplished on earth as in heaven.
What we know so far is that all of the prophetic events are going to move toward a rapid conclusion after the Rapture of the church. All those who hear the gospel now during the church age and refuse to respond by turning to Jesus Christ in repentant faith for salvation, will be left behind and will believe the lies of Anti-Christ.
God is warning the world today of what is going to happen. Nothing remains to be completed in order for the Rapture to take place. Jesus could return in the clouds at any moment to call His bride, the church, home to heaven.
Are you ready for this day or will you be among the billions left behind? If you are not born again, a dreary and dreadful future awaits you. All of the powerful judgments from God upon this world that we have studied from Revelation and Daniel, will become your life experience.
Romans 10:8-13 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
God is inviting you to be saved this moment, this day. His Spirit will not always strive with your heart (Hebrews 3:7; 15). No one is guaranteed another day. We only have this moment in time. I plead with those who do not know the Lord, who know in their hearts that they are not born again, please bow down now, confessing your sins and turning to Jesus Christ. He will save you if you call upon Him.
Have you been born again? Are you serving God? How we live as believers matters to God and He will judge our service for Him. May we pray to earnestly serve God and anticipate hearing "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" from our Lord.
May God speak to our hearts individually and may we be willing hearers and doers of His Word.
