We must always remember that the chapter divisions are helpful aids put in by translators many years ago, but sometimes the chapter division is in the wrong place. The last two verses of Matthew 9 actually belong with chapter ten as you will see. Preachers of the gospel and faithful Christians are needed to work to bring in a harvest.  Matthew 9:37-38  Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborer's are few;  38)  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborer's into his harvest.  "The harvest truly is plenteous" is vivid picture of kingdom work as Jesus gave us another beautiful image.  A waving field of ripened, golden grain invites many reapers to come and bring in an abundant harvest.  Jesus saw the multitude of people that flocked to his ministry as a harvest waiting to be gleaned for the kingdom of heaven.  Many people expected and longed for the Messiah.  Many were prepare...

Our Lord worked tirelessly doing good, preaching the gospel and healing the  sick or afflicted. Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matthew gave us a summary of all the activity that involved Jesus since He finished His Sermon on the Mount. Matthew is the only evangelist who recorded this last paragraph of chapter 9. Notice how tirelessly our Lord worked, using His time wisely for the Father's kingdom purposes. He went about all the cities and villages in Galilee, visiting them to spread the call to repentance because the kingdom of God is at hand. Jesus did not restrict his acts of kindness and compassion to his own city, Capernaum.  He also visited larger cities, towns and villages.  Jesus did good for the bodies and souls of men in every place in whatever their state or condition was. It amazes me how much action has happened since Jesus finished His Sermon on the Mount.  In Matthew 8, Jesus healed a leper and the centurion's loyal servant followed by healing "many" who were demon possessed or suffering from sickness. Then, Jesus calmed the raging storm that threatened to sink the boat they were in followed by restoring the maniac of Gadara to his right mind. In this chapter, Jesus healed the palsied man, healed the woman who had an issue of blood and raised Jairus' daughter from the dead. Next, Jesus restored sight to two blind men right before healing a demon possessed man who was unable to speak that we will study today. All of this truth about Jesus reminds us that our Lord never reacted to anything. All that He did was purposeful and devoted to advancing the kingdom of God but His primary purpose was accomplishing mankind's redemption. Pastor's original intent was looking at the family but the Lord has really impressed many profound truths about Himself and what He has done for us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, His Son.
