Pastor Mike Alvis preached such a powerful sermon on the LORD's Day as a Christian sabbath, that I feel compelled to post the livestream for you tp view. The "Church" at large, has given up on teaching that the LORD's Day is a holy day of rest. God planned that one day in seven is a special day of rest for us.  He put it in place for us to enjoy worshiping together, hearing His Word, being blessed by Christian fellowship, and praying together. Psalm 16:1  Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. King David wrote this beautiful Psalm that tells us about his heart of love for God. Some call a "michtam" a golden Psalm because it contains a preview of Jesus Christ the Messiah. This applies to David as he cheerfully sought refuge in Jehovah, the One, True God. He seeks preservation for himself because he knew that he was constantly exposed to his own sin nature, and the sinful actions of those around him. Like David, we must commit our soul to God for salvation from sin and deliverance from evil. Psalm 15:1  A Psalm of David. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?  King David loved the LORD and served Him well throughout his life as a shepherd, a warrior, a king and the sweet Psalmist of Israel. In this Psalm he asked two important questions. "Who shall abide in the LORD's tabernacle?" and "Who shall dwell in His holy hill?" Let us consider the first question "Who shall abide in the LORD's tabernacle?" We must remember that the tabernacle was a portable worship center designed by God with a pattern given to Moses to build it. The book of Exodus contains most of the details about this structure and an accurate scale model below helps us visualize what it may have looked like. This is a Psalm of David, written while he was king over a united Israel. It is a Psalm that applied to David's time, but it is also prophetic in that it looked forward to Israel's apostasy that resulted in God sending them into Babylonian captivity for seventy years. Psalm 14:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. This truth is also found in the Book of Proverbs written by King David's son, Solomon. This truth has applied to all people since the fall of Adam into sin. Only a fool would ever say or believe that God does not exist. I feel empathy for young people who are indoctrinated by public education to believe that evolution is a fact, not a theory of origins. Psalm 13:1-6  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?  2  How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?  3  Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;  4  Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.  5  But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.  6  I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.  King David is the author of this Psalm and in it he poured out his complaints to the LORD. Psalm 12:1  To the chief Musician upon Sheminith, A Psalm of David. Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.  The word translated "Help" literally means to be saved in battle and made victorious, or to be delivered from one's enemies. In this text, David seeks some mighty help from Jehovah, as he frequently does. In reference to the "godly man ceaseth" , it seemed to King David  that ungodly men prevailed on every side,  when he wrote the Psalm. We can all identify with David's sorrow over a lack of godly, upright men and women whom God can use to make a wonderful difference in our culture. It certainly seems to be the same today when we observe all the vile, hateful speech posted on social media platforms.
