Psalm 19 Part 1 All Creation Declares God's Glory Each Day

Psalm 19:1  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

David is the author of this majestic and beautiful Psalm that extolls the LORD and His Word.

The first verse conveys powerful truth about creation and exposes the lies about evolutionary theories.

The "heavens" include the atmospheric envelope that surrounds the earth, along with the vast expanse of space containing all stars, the sun, the moon and other galaxies.

However, Paul wrote about the "third heaven" which is the abode of God.

Since God is not bound or limited by the time, space and matter continuum, this third heaven is not like anything else that we know or observe.

David begins by telling us that all the heavens declare the glory of God as Creator, Sustainer and Ruler of all created things.

How do the heavens declare the glory of God in such an undeniable manner?

Romans 1:18-20  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The apostle Paul gives us truth about creation that addresses the question noted above.

First, because creation is such a clear witness to God's existence, omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence, He will judge those who reject this witness.

Second, God gives every single person a conscience that convicts us of sin and makes us aware that He exists.

Our conscience recognizes by observing created things, that God does exist and that we are accountable to Him for our actions.

Paul tells us that God has shown Himself and His work to all people through His creation.

The invisible things that God set in place from the creation of the world are clearly seen and understood by all the created things around us.

Scripture says that the God's eternal power and Godhead (Father, Son, Spirit) are clearly seen and that no man can say he or she is ignorant about God.

Genesis 1:5  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Think about something as simple as time.

On the first day of creation God commanded "Let there be light and there was light."

His command was instantly done and God called the light that He created day, while the darkness He called night.

The unchangeable nature of day and night is a reality deeply embedded into the fabric of human history.

There is no debate about this truth because God decreed it.

Only a fool would attempt to say that day and night somehow came into existence and eventually evolved into its present form.

Some may attempt to deny its reality, but another day will dawn and another night will follow because God set it in place.

Why do we have a day and a night? Because God decreed it!

Why are there 24 hours in each day? Why not 25 or 23?

Because God decreed it!

Because no other format of time is compatible with the earth's daily rotation around it's axis.

Each rotation of the earth takes 24 hours with each hour composed of 60 minutes consisting of sixty seconds each. No more and no less.

Time is something that God set in place. There are sixty seconds in each minute and sixty minutes in each hour and 24 hours for each period of day and night.

Yet, unbelieving scientists insist that a day was only 4-6 hours long "billions of years ago."

There is no scientific basis to make such a statement and certainly, no one has ever lived that long to verify or test such a hypothesis.

Evolutionary theories use "billions of years" as the way to explain what science cannot explain.

They say that anything is possible such that one form of life can change into other higher form of life if given enough time.

Based upon what is known about the building blocks of life called DNA, the DNA of a fish can never produce anything other life form other than the same kind of fish, with some variation in size, color, etc.

The towering pin oak in our front yard drops thousands of acorns each year and the only tree that will grow will be another pin oak!

In other words, there is not now nor at any point in human history any evidence that one specific plant or animal or bird ever had the ability to modify its DNA so that it could produce an entirely new form of life.

Thus, the statistical probability that the earth would be governed by a 24 hour period of day and night through random chances is zero!

What about time and seasons?

Genesis 1:14-19  And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16  And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17  And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

God established the planets, constellations and comets in the heavens to be our guide for changing seasons, and to give mankind structure for signs, seasonal changes, for days and years.

For example a comet named Encke passes by the earth every 3.3 years.

Halley's comet passes by the earth every 75 or 76 years.

A comet named McNaught 5 passes by the earth every 7.92 years.

There is a lengthy list of comets with orbits that pass by the earth with a regularity that simply cannot be accounted for by random processes.

Where I live in Ohio, we enjoy four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter, each with its own unique beauty and sensory delights.

Each season vividly illustrates Jesus' parable of the seed and the sower, and of the wheat and the tares in Matthew 13.

Late fall and early winter are times to prepare the fields for planting by plowing, tilling and spreading manure.

Spring is a time of planting seed for various crops like wheat, corn, oats, barley.

Spring is a time of hope as cultivated soil begins to show signs of life as the crops start to sprout.

Summer is a time to make sure fields are protected from weeds or disease, a time of monitoring and intervening if necessary.

Summer is a time to harvest early fruits berries, strawberries, peaches or watermelons.

Sweet corn, tomatoes, ripen in full summer.

Fall is a time of harvest, when the grains like wheat and oats and corn are harvested.

It is a time of gathering in fruits that ripen in the fall, like apples.

It is also noted as a time of giving thanks to God for His provision of food through the harvest.

Think about the planetary movements that choreograph our seasonal changes.

How fast does the earth rotate around it's axis?

1037 miles per hour and according to the laws of motion and centrifugal force, everything on the surface of the world should be flung into space.

Yet, all living things remain firmly rooted on the earth.

Why? Because God gave us the very specific and right amount of gravity to counteract the laws of motion.

We do not even feel that we are spinning at 1037 miles per hour!

Too much gravity pull and life on earth would be miserable.

For example, if gravity's pull was 10 % more than it is, then everything on earth would weigh 10% heavier.

This would cause blood to pool in our lower limbs and lead to serious cardiovascular issues.

This would lead to massive structural failures in all infrastructure, bridges, buildings, homes because nothing is designed for such an increase in weight.

But God set the exact gravity needed to promote the life He created on earth.

How fast does our world travel through space?

The earth is traveling at 67,000 miles per hour through space as we orbit the sun while our planet spins on it's axis at 1037 miles per hour.

What about the sun?

Our sun has it's own orbit around the center of the Milky Way galaxy and it is traveling at speeds of about 500,000 miles per hour!

So we are spinning on our own axis at 1037 miles per hour while traveling at 67,000 miles per hour in our annual orbit around the sun, which is traveling at 500,000 miles per hour.

And our cycle of 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour, and 24 hours in a day comes to 365 days for us to orbit the sun!

This is the way God planned it. It is impossible for evolution and random chances to account for any of this.

Thus, the heavens do indeed declare the glory of God if we take time to observe it.

Again, there is zero probability that any of this could have happened by chance.

If the earth was 5% closer to the sun, life as we know it would be almost impossible.

If the earth was 5% farther away from the sun our planet would freeze and life as we know it would be impossible.

Our water supply on earth is called a closed system because the amount is fixed and constant.

It does not escape into space nor is there any new water created.

The water we use today is ancient water created by God for us.

Our atmosphere and oxygen system us also a closed system, meaning that we do not lose our oxygen nor is there any new oxygen that comes into our atmosphere.

Like the water system, our oxygen is ancient, and was created by God for us.

What are the statistical chances that  closed water and oxygen systems just right for sustaining all of life occurred by random processes? Zero chance!

We have reviewed some of the evidence and facts of the world in which we live, and it is clear that God created the universe, that He set various laws in place to govern it all.

Hebrews 1:1-3  God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2  Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3  Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

John's gospel tells us that Jesus Christ (The Word) created all things.

The author of Hebrews tells us that Christ upholds all the universe by the word of His power!

Look out at creation today and look up at the heavens and think about what the Psalmist is telling us about teh glory of God being on full display.

Christians must categorically reject the lies of evolution and the idea that all things just happened by random chances.

Christians must communicate what God's Word says about creation without apology!

Let us be people of faith who believe what God says about His creation.

Let us help others learn about God and the gospel of Christ, so that they might know Him, be born again and enjoy new life in Christ.
